God is pointing me in the right direction - passionate worship
These past few weeks I having been thinking a lot about Passionate Worship, one of our five practices of fruitful congregations. I have had a number of conversations with people, most often with Bud McLaury, who is really passionate about worship.
Well, yesterday I reluctantly went to a spiritual renewal day sponsored by the East Ohio Conference Pastoral Care Commission. I felt like I didn't have time - besides I find renewal AND stay in shape by cycling. And by going to this event, I was going to miss another day on the bike. BUT I must say that I was supposed to be at the renewal event because God showed up in amazing ways. The leader of the day, Harry Pickens led us in ways to "connect with God." My questions about passionate worship have been all about how to help people connect with God in very real ways. I felt like God had me not only be refreshed at this spiritual day apart, but also to learn some insight from Harry about how we might "do worship" in ways to really help people connect to God better. This is what worship is all about.
I am grateful for my time cycling today in order to pray about and process some more what took place yesterday and to think about how God is leading our congregation to improve in the area of passionate worship.
Thanks be to God,
Scott
